Ephemera - Travelogue exhibition
Brother Joseph McNally Gallery, Singapore
17 September to 22 October 2022
Ephemera is a group exhibition featuring students from the BA(Hons) and MA Fine Arts programmes at LASALLE College of the Arts. Following a study trip to Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia, students and staff responded with a variety of works that ranged from drwaings, objects,, installation and performances.
Made with an assortment of coloured tapes, stickers and thread, Weaving rainbows in my mind is a collection of drawings that are inspired by the encounters with the intricately fashioned baskets, shophouse tiles, roof and floor thatches, jewelries, and colourful Sarawak layered cakes.
Paying homage also to craft instructional drawings and the weavings and paintings of Anni & Josef Albers, this work is a study of patterned diagrams that serve as notational markers, visual rhythms and weavings as drawings.
